We are excited to bring you this new initiative!
We are now running wonderful walking tours. Our museum is situated in the centre of one of the most historic parts of Limerick City – in Newtownpery – which was built in the eighteenth century as an exciting new planned town. It contains some of the finest and most important buildings of the Georgian period.
Our tourguides will take you from the door of the historic townhouse that we ourselves occupy (via a giant 8-foot map of 18th century Limerick), ‘around the block’ down Barrington St, taking in the Crescent, past the theatrical district, up Mallow St, taking in historic banks and churches, and around by the People’s Park again, with many statues, and buildings of different periods, discussed along the way. It really is a block worth exploring!
Especially during these times when outdoors activity is safer, and social distancing is recommended, we thought why not celebrate the museum that we all occupy? In Limerick we are surrounded by history – the whole town is full of fascinating artefacts. Let us introduce them to you!
To take a tour, you can just drop into the museum, or you can prebook by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or ringing 083 399 4186. Prices are 10e per adult, 6e concession, and all children are FREE. Get in touch – we’d love to hear from you!
